Helping podcast listeners share the moments that matter

Insight

My brief was to design a lightweight MVP feature that would help the team validate whether giving listeners better sharing tools could meaningfully increase episode shares and social referral traffic.

Solution

I focused on reducing the distance between the moment a listener hears something worth sharing and the act of sharing it.

How this helped

The expected outcome was a measurable increase in episode shares and social referral traffic - with the popularity data generated by the feature opening the door to smarter discovery and personalisation for Queue down the line.

Long-form podcasts are going unshared and undiscovered.

Queue is a podcast app built for discovering, following, and listening to shows. It offers a clean player, personalised recommendations, and simple tools to save and share moments. The team had identified a gap: episodes were being listened to but rarely shared. Creators were doing all the work to produce clips, while listeners — who were often the most passionate advocates — had no easy way to share the moments they loved. My brief was to design a lightweight MVP feature that would help the team validate whether giving listeners better sharing tools could meaningfully increase episode shares and social referral traffic.

A/B test the quick share flow against the current sharing flow with a beta group of users — measuring share rate, clip creation, and social referral traffic to validate whether the new feature drives meaningful behaviour change before investing in the full clip creation experience.
